House Speaker Paul Ryan is warning against watering down the sweeping overhaul of the nation’s tax code he laid out a year ago and calling on Washington to enact permanent reforms this year. A Canadian man yelled “Allahu akbar” before he allegedly stabbed a police officer at the Flint, Michigan, airport in what the FBI is investigating as a terrorist act. The attacker could face up to 20 years in prison and more charges could be added. The police officer who stopped the attack was in stable condition as of Wednesday night.


James Hodgkinson, the shooter at the Republican congressional baseball team practice last week, kept a list of six members of Congress, the FBI said in a news conference Wednesday. At this point in the investigation, it is “unclear” what the significance of the names are.
