Jim Talamonti was born in Chicago and grew up in the area. He graduated from Glenbard North High School and then from Butler University in Indianapolis. His first professional radio job was at a sunup-to-sundown station in Noblesville, IN.
After a stint at the WSBT Stations in South Bend, Jim moved on to sports play-by-play. He handled pro hockey broadcasts in Columbus, OH and New Orleans, plus pro baseball in South Bend. He did bilingual hockey play-by-play in Laredo, Texas on a flagship station based in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
Jim returned to the Chicago area in 2003 and joined Sporting News Radio as a nationally-syndicated anchor and host. After the network moved to Los Angeles in 2007, he joined Metro Networks (now Total Traffic), covering news, sports and traffic. He anchored evening newscasts on WLS-AM for over a year, then joined AM 560’s morning show. Jim also works as a sports anchor and reporter at the Illinois Radio Network.
Jim and his wife Maricela are thankful to be the parents of two wonderful boys.
