President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he intends to deploy troops along the U.S.-Mexico border until a wall is built there, proposing an escalation of efforts to prevent people from entering the country illegally via the southern border. The move would ramp up Trump’s battle over immigration, after he ran into hurdles carrying out his campaign-trail promise to build a wall at Mexico’s expense. Most recently, he has been preoccupied with a caravan of migrants, mostly from Honduras, making their way north through Mexico toward the U.S.
A woman opened fire at YouTube’s headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area Tuesday, wounding at least three people before she shot and killed herself and prompted panic as employees hid and tried to flee, police and witnesses said. Officials say three people were wounded by gunshots, and another person suffered a twisted ankle.
A caravan of some 1,500 Latin American migrants, welcomed into Mexico on their 1,900-mile trek to the United States where they plan to demand asylum, was welcomed by a third Mexican town 400 miles into their journey.
Owners of assault weapons living in north suburban Deerfield have until June 13 to remove the firearms from within village limits or face daily fines after a ban was approved Monday night. The Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved a ban on certain types of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, amending a 2013 ordinance that regulated the storage of those items.
