As the academic school year nears and the number of coronavirus cases continue to climb in the U.S., the focus is increasingly on the and safety of teachers and the children they teach.
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is arguing against a federal plan for reopening schools amid the coronavirus pandemic, saying that “there’s not a national superintendent, nor should there be.”
This concern is so prevalent, the American Federation of Teachers announced on Tuesday that it would support any local chapter that decides to strike over insufficient or unsafe reopening plans.
