Caring Network Strives to Support Abortion-Vulnerable Women in Illinois

The Caring Network’s “Reach Her First” campaign, launched in partnership with Chicago’s Morning Answer on AM560, has raised over $11,000 toward its $20,000 goal to support women facing unplanned pregnancies in Illinois. The initiative aims to reach abortion-vulnerable women before they walk into a Planned Parenthood clinic, offering free ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, counseling, and material support to help them choose life.

Appearing on the show this week, Caring Network representative Kurt Wiggins highlighted the growing urgency of the organization’s mission. Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Illinois has seen a surge in abortions, with the state now ranking among the most permissive in the country. That increase, Wiggins said, is particularly concentrated among low-income Black and Latino women in urban communities—groups that have long been targeted by abortion providers.

“Our goal is to reach women before they enter an abortion clinic,” Wiggins said. “Once a woman walks into a Planned Parenthood, the chances of her choosing life drop below 10%. But if she walks through our doors first, 65% or more will choose life.”

Through targeted digital ads and a growing network of clinics—including five new locations opening in Chicago—Caring Network connects with women in crisis moments. A $150 donation, Wiggins explained, funds outreach to five women at risk of choosing abortion.

He also emphasized the holistic nature of the support provided. Critics of the pro-life movement often claim advocates abandon women after they choose life, but Caring Network continues walking with them long after birth. Mothers who carry their babies to term can receive four years of free material support through the organization’s “baby banks,” which offer diapers, wipes, and other essentials in partnership with local churches.

Wiggins shared stories from the frontlines of the effort, including a 16-year-old girl—referred to as Chloe—who came to a Caring Network clinic planning to abort. After a counseling session and a spiritual conversation in which she accepted Christ, she still left conflicted. But days later, she returned, ultrasound images in hand, having changed her mind. “She had spoken to her family, and with their support, she chose life,” Wiggins said.

In addition to its core services, the organization offers spiritual care and gospel presentations for women who express interest. Already this year, 21 women have accepted Christ through Caring Network clinics—nearly double the number of conversions recorded all of last year.

Caring Network, which has operated in Illinois for more than four decades, now has a presence in DuPage County, the Aurora area, and multiple neighborhoods across Chicago. It is currently fundraising to support expansion, staff training, and ultrasound certification for new clinics.

Listeners and supporters can help by donating online at 560theanswer.com/caring or by calling 855-84-WOMEN. Donations of $150 fund outreach to five abortion-minded women, while a $4,000 gift covers the training of an ultrasound technician—one of the most impactful tools the group uses to help women choose life.

“This campaign is not just about saving babies,” Wiggins said. “It’s about caring for women in crisis, meeting them with compassion, and offering them real hope and help—two lives at a time.”
