ISIS has claimed responsibility for Thursday’s attack in Paris. The attacker opened fire on a police van on the avenue before being killed. One police officer was killed and two others seriously injured when a gunman with an automatic weapon opened fire. Officers shot and killed the assailant. A new ordinance that is being debated in City Council committee would require city departments to notify every aldermen about any business license applications or renewals filed in their ward. The alderman could then veto any application for any reason as long as they provided what that reason was. If this is allowed to pass, it would make Chicago aldermen even bigger despots in their individual wards. Bill O’Reilly’s forced exit from Fox News is netting him a payout of up to $25 million. The former Fox News anchor inked a new four-year contract last month guaranteeing he make that much annually, according to a person with knowledge of that deal. The contract did allow Fox to fire him in general if controversy was harming the network, the person added.
