In 1997, Evanston/Skokie School District 65 had 6,710 students and spent $86.1 million in local property tax dollars, adjusted for inflation. In 2015, it had 7,139 students– a six percent enrollment increase. And it spent $96.1 million in local taxes– 12 percent more than in 1997.
Over the past two decades, Wheaton-Warrenville Unit School District 200 local property tax spending has risen 30 percent, while district enrollment has fallen eight percent. That’s according to an analysis of school spending reports by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DuPage Policy Journal.
Glen Ellyn School District 41’s school superintendent has taken responsibility for giving the email addresses of school parents to a local political advocacy group. After numerous inquiries from school board members and village trustees, Paul Gordon, District 41 school superintendent, acknowledged late Thursday that he released all community email addresses the district had to 41 Forward for Kids, which is supporting a referendum to borrow $24.2 million.
