Ted Cruz and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates squared off in a testy showdown over President Donald Trump’s proposed travel ban — which, in its original form, proposed a ban on travel to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries.

 

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates managed to dominate the headlines on Monday by casting fired national security adviser Mike Flynn as “compromised” and susceptible to blackmail, despite Republican efforts to focus on the leaks that led to his downfall. Yates and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, but Democrats and Republicans often seemed to be conducting parallel hearings on different subjects.

 

A young Italian TV reporter and her cameraman were both assaulted on live TV while covering the arrival of refugees from Africa. MATRIX Correspondent Francesca Parisella was covering the influx of immigrants who’d arrived in Italy and were sleeping at a Roman train station.

 

The student government at the taxpayer-funded University of Wisconsin-Madison has unanimously issued a resolution that demands “community control” over the campus police force because of “implicit bias.”

 

Meanwhile, liberal-feminist philosophy professor Rebecca Tuvel learned that you can be a target if you are not liberal enough.
