Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has delayed the start of the August Senate recess until the third week in August in order to allow more time for his conference to complete “its work on health care reform” among other tasks. Congressman Peter Roskam from the 6th district joined Dan Proft and Kristen McQueary to talk about the next step for health care reform in Congress:

According to emails released by Donald Trump Jr., he met on June 9, 2016 with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a lawyer described to him as an emissary of the Russian government with information that was part of the country’s effort to help elect his father. Do the emails show there’s actually a “there”, there? Charles Cooke the editor of National Review Online joined Dan Proft and Kristen McQueary with reaction:

A David Brooks op-ed published in the New York Times on Tuesday morning has some people a little confused. Brooks shares a strange anecdote about taking his high school-educated friend to a  sandwich shop.

 

Several states, including Republican states, have decided to raise taxes this year to cover budget shortfalls. But a new study suggests that the states might find themselves in worse financial shape after the money starts rolling in.

 

Police gathered at the funeral of murdered New York Police Department Officer Miosotis Familia on Tuesday, and they weren’t happy to see Mayor Bill de Blasio. The mayor angered many in the city, including law enforcement, when he chose to go to Germany to protest President Donald Trump at the G20 summit last week.

 

A disability rights organization is upset that a non-blind actor was cast to play a role of a blind person in the movie “Blind.” The LA Times reports the Ruderman Family Foundation, a leading disability rights organization, accused the movie of “crip-face” by casting “able-bodied” Alec Baldwin in the role of the blind lead character.

 

Seven individuals blocked by Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account are suing the president and his communications staff because they say it’s unconstitutional for the president to exercise “viewpoint-based blocking.”
