US President Donald Trump has stepped up his criticism of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, calling them “disgraceful”. Former Chicago Alderman Jim Balcer, who organized a protest against Colin Kapernick last season joined Dan and Amy with response to the NFL protests:

Eva Moskowitz is the founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, a former New York City Councilmember and author of the new book “The Education of Eva Moskowitz.” She joined Dan and Amy to talk about the problems facing educators and possible solutions for the future:

Republican insurgent Roy Moore defeated Alabama Sen. Luther Strange Tuesday in a primary runoff that put Donald Trump and some of his top allies on opposing sides. Moore’s 10-point victory also serves as a warning sign to congressional Republican leadership, and could embolden primary challengers to incumbents heading into the 2018 midterm elections.

Puerto Rico’s electricity systems are badly damaged after Hurricane Maria, and nearly half the U.S. territory’s residents lack drinking water following the storm.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) have co-sponsored a bill that would strip any taxpayer funding for professional sports teams for building their massive arenas. The proposal, first put forward in June, is gaining steam on Capitol Hill after NFL players began kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality.

DirecTV is allowing some customers to cancel their subscriptions of its NFL Sunday Ticket package and get refunds, citing players’ protests during national anthem, according to The Wall Street Journal.
