Jennifer Sey Blasts Gender Ideology in Schools, Applauds Women Athletes Taking a Stand

Former Levi’s brand president and women’s rights advocate Jennifer Sey joined Chicago’s Morning Answer with Amy Jacobson and Chris Krok to deliver a fiery rebuke of gender ideology in education and sports, calling the movement “twisted,” “toxic,” and “a cult.”

The conversation followed a viral video of a Chicago Public Schools teacher identifying as “Mx. Crystal” introducing themselves to young children using they/them pronouns.

“It’s bananas,” Sey said. “It’s not harmless. This is not cute. It’s dystopian.”

Sey warned that similar ideology is already being codified into law in places like Colorado, where she now lives. Legislation under consideration there could classify “misgendering” or “deadnaming” a child as a hate crime, with potential felony charges and state removal of children from their homes.

“We have to refuse all of it,” she said. “Take your kids out of that school. Don’t use the pronouns. Don’t play along. Because once they own the language, they own how people think.”

“Insurance Shouldn’t Cover Nose Jobs for Kids”

Sey also criticized sweeping gender-affirming care mandates that require insurance coverage for elective cosmetic procedures, including rhinoplasty, facial implants, breast augmentation, and permanent hair removal.

“If I want a free breast augmentation as a woman in my 50s, I can’t get one,” she said. “But now it’s mandated coverage for minors? It’s beyond belief.”

Nashville Shooter’s Ideology: “It’s Demonic”

Discussing the recently released FBI report on the Nashville school shooter, Sey noted how the shooter’s trans identity and ideological motives have been downplayed in mainstream coverage.

“The shooter had a gender identity crisis and was likely on a cocktail of medications,” Sey said. “It’s a page out of the leftist handbook—racial ideology, gender ideology—and the media refuses to acknowledge it.”

The manifesto revealed the shooter had chosen her target for being more vulnerable and had plotted attacks years in advance.

“This isn’t victimhood. This is demonic,” Sey said. “And failing to name the ideology behind it is journalistic malpractice.”

Standing Up in Women’s Sports: “We Need an Army”

Sey also praised Stephanie Turner, a women’s fencer who took a knee before a match to protest competing against a biological male. Turner refused to fence the opponent and was ejected from the tournament.

“She just said, ‘I’m a woman. I came to compete in the women’s category. I won’t do it.’ And that was it. Simple. Powerful,” Sey said.

Sey’s XXXY Athletics brand awarded Turner its “Courage Wins Champion” award, which comes with a monetary grant and sponsorship deal.

“This is about taking the sting out of cancellation,” Sey explained. “Many of these women are all alone when they make these decisions. We want to show them they’re not.”

Just one day after Turner’s stand, a female disc golfer in Nashville also walked away from a tournament rather than compete against a man who has reportedly earned over $40,000 in prize money playing in women’s divisions.

Why It Matters: “This Needs to Be a Movement”

Sey, a former elite gymnast who exposed abuse in the sport, knows how long change can take.

“When I first spoke out about gymnastics abuse, no one listened. It took ten years,” she recalled. “We need an army of middle school, high school, and D1 athletes to stand up. This has to be a movement, not a moment.”

She criticized elite athletes for staying silent out of fear of losing endorsement deals, but emphasized that cultural momentum is shifting.

“If 80% of Americans agree with us, they need to start saying so. Speak up. Reject the pronouns. Refuse to compete. That’s how we win.”

She also called on women to wear their beliefs proudly—even if it means getting “stink eye” at yoga.

“Come at me, bro,” Jacobson laughed, recalling the dirty looks she received wearing an XXXY shirt in Chicago.
