President Trump’s voter fraud commission met for the first time this week to carve out a path forward amid a firestorm of controversy. Hans von Spakovsky is a former FEC Commissioner, a former lawyer for the Department of Justice and a member of the voter fraud commission. He joined Dan Proft and Chicago Tribune Editorial Board Member Kristen McQueary to talk about what the commission hopes to accomplish:

Senate Republicans are scrambling to reach consensus on a way to move forward with health care reform as they begin a critical weekend. A vote is expected to take place next Tuesday but senators don’t yet know whether they will be voting on a straight repeal of Obamacare, a repeal with a replacement bill or perhaps something else. Mike Emanuel the Chief Congressional Correspondent for Fox News Channel joined Dan Proft and Kristen McQueary with reaction to the latest twists and turns in the debate:

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions is brushing off sharp criticism from President Donald Trump over his recusal from the Justice Department’s Russia investigation, saying he loves his job and plans to continue serving. Former Federal Prosecutor Jeff Cramer joined Dan Proft and Kristen McQueary to talk about Sessions future in the Trump administration and the potential fallout if Trump fires Sessions or Russia Special Counsel Robert Mueller:

The U.S. special counsel investigating possible ties between the Donald Trump campaign and Russia in last year’s election is examining a broad range of transactions involving Trump’s businesses as well as those of his associates, according to a person familiar with the probe.

 

President Donald Trump’s interview with the New York Times on Wednesday has stirred speculation he may consider firing Special Counsel Robert Mueller for investigating Trump’s business dealings as part of the Russia probe.

 

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he plans to continue in his job despite President Donald Trump’s comments that he’d have picked someone else had he known Sessions would recuse himself from the Justice Department’s Russia investigation.

 

A measure that would require homeowners in Chicago’s suburbs to pay off Chicago Public Schools’ $17 billion in debt is expected to go to Governor Rauner’s desk for his signature later this month.

 

O.J. Simpson, convicted of robbery and kidnapping, was granted parole Thursday — a unanimous vote by the four-member Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners reported instantly by national and international media. He could be free as soon as Oct. 1.

 

The death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington came as a surprise to the world when it was announced, but it also struck similarities to the death of fellow rocker and close friend Chris Cornell, who killed himself in May.
