The very public standoff between the White House and the nation’s senior law enforcement official took another strange turn Tuesday as President Trump escalated his verbal attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Andrew McCarthy is a former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney and a contributing editor for National Review. He joined Dan and Amy with reaction to the strained relationship between President Trump and Jeff Sessions:

Senate Republicans overcame a range of internal fissures in narrowly voting on Tuesday to begin debate on their health-care overhaul, but the party suffered a setback hours later when a proposal replacing major portions of the Affordable Care Act failed to attract enough votes to pass.

Alabama Republican Rep. Mo Brooks slammed the Democratic party and the media in a new Senate campaign advertisement released Tuesday. Brooks blasted the Democratic party and “liberal media” for their criticism of a separate campaign ad he released Monday that included the sounds of gunshots being fired with voices shouting “stay down!”

 

A House IT aide working for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.), the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman, was arrested this week on bank fraud charges while trying to leave the country.

 

President Donald Trump made fun of a young protester “going home to mommy” because he got yanked out of his rally in Youngstown, Ohio on Tuesday.

 

Energy Secretary Rick Perry thought he was talking about cyberhacking and a biofuel breakthrough in a call with Ukraine Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman. The 22-minute phone call was actually conducted with Russian pranksters.

 

A Boston man visiting Chicago said he endured one of the “most dangerous and inappropriate” Uber rides he’s ever had while in the city last week.
