Mickey Straub, the Mayor of Burr Ridge has announced that he will challenge Illinois House Republican leader Jim Durkin in the election next year. He joined Dan and Amy to talk about what prompted his decision:

A gunman turned a Las Vegas concert into a killing field Sunday night, murdering at least 50 people and injuring more than 200 others in the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history.

 

President Donald Trump said Friday that the government of Puerto Rico – a U.S. territory – will have to work with the federal government on how the rebuilding effort will be funded and what to do about its existing debt.

 

On Friday President Trump accepted the resignation of disgraced Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. Price was dealing with fallout from his use of private aircraft, and also had lost support from President Trump in the wake of the failure of the Republican effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

 

There was a significant decrease in NFL players kneeling during the national anthem this Sunday as compared to last, but almost half of Colin Kaepernick’s old team took a knee.

 

A coach kicked a two Texan high school football players off of the team after the players protested during the national anthem Friday.

 

An Illinois high school decided to honor first responders at their homecoming game, marching onto the field alongside firefighters and law enforcement and holding an American flag high.

 

O.J. Simpson became a free man at 12:08 a.m. Sunday when he was released from Lovelock Correctional Center in Northern Nevada. Simpson was released from prison and out on parole after serving nine years for armed robbery, Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Keast confirmed Sunday morning.
