Though his fundraising campaign for the University of Iowa’s children’s hospital officially ended Monday, Carson King announced later in the week that he had reached the $3 million mark with a new donation that came from Iowa’s Busch Light distributors.
The Iowa man became a national sensation after cameras caught him holding a hand-drawn sign as he stood behind the set of ESPN’s “College GameDay” in Ames on Sept. 14. Written on the sign, in plain black marker, was “Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished” and his Venmo handle.
When the money actualling started pouring in, far exceeding anything King had expected, he decided to donate the funds to the university’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
