Michelle Obama on ‘Angry Black Woman’ Label

During a much-hyped interview with Oprah, First Lady Michelle Obama had a lot to say. Among other things, she took on the “angry black woman” label that she was tagged with when her husband ran for President in 2008 and that many women of color are stuck with when they speak out in public.

The out-going FLOTUS had this to say:

That was one of those things that you just sort of think, “Dang, you don’t even know me,” you know? You just sort of feel like, “Wow, where did that come from?” … You think, “That is so not me!” But then you sort of think, “Well, this isn’t about me. This is about the person or the people who write it.”
