Vice President Mike Pence echoed President Donald Trump in his first public speech about this weekend’s mass shootings on Tuesday, telling the “Alliance Defending Freedom” gathering in Arlington, Virginia that, “hate has no place in America.” He also said, “We will confront this evil in our time.”
Former Vice President Joe Biden called for a complete federal ban on assault weapons and a federal gun buyback program in response to the recent mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton. He told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an interview which aired Monday night that assault weapons “should be illegal – period,” and “the Second Amendment doesn’t say you can’t restrict the kinds of weapons people can own.”
