Stephen Moore: Socialism Fails, Free Markets Deliver

Economist Stephen Moore joined Jeanne Ives and Jim Iuorio on Chicago’s Morning Answer to discuss the dangers of socialism and government overreach. Moore highlighted Sergey Brin’s journey: fleeing Soviet socialism only to support policies now driving him out of California as a cautionary tale.

He noted that states like California, New York, and Illinois are losing residents and businesses to low-tax states like Florida and Texas due to high taxes and regulations. Moore slammed corporate welfare, including potential government involvement with Spirit Airlines and the Intel bailout, arguing the government should not pick winners and losers.

He emphasized that public schools spend 50%+ more per student than private schools yet deliver inferior results, blocked by teacher unions. Vouchers and school choice are the solution. On energy, Moore praised “drill baby drill,” making the U.S. the top oil and gas producer, shielding America from Middle East volatility despite current high prices. Moore stressed: free markets, not socialism, create prosperity.
